Randall Fortenberry is spearheading a project involving the use of DNA testing to help clear up questions about our common ancestors. Randall and several others have already taken the test and would like to have at least one male descendent from each family line to submit a test too. Some of the family surnames which are believed to be related are Falconberry, Falconbury, Falconburg, Falkenberry, Faulkenberry, Fortenberry and others.
The results of these tests could determine if we all have a common ancestor and possibly which generation that ancestor belonged to. If we could find a known descendent of the Faulkinburg family which originated in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, we could obtain credible proof that our families were descended from the Henry Jacobs Faulkinburg who lived there in the mid to late-1600s.
The more people who participate in the project allows the costs of the tests to be lower for everyone. If you, or someone you know, might be interested in participating in this research or finding out more about it, please contact Randall Fortenberry at firstname.lastname@example.org, or you may visit the web site for Family Tree DNA or you can write to me.
There are several individuals who have already participated in the project so far. See the current results of the project at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/fortenberrydna/.
I decided to participate, too, so I ordered the kit and have sent it back in. It was received on January 24, 2006, but it will take a few weeks to get the results back. As soon as the results are known, I will post them here.Ron Falconberry
