Although Ron was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama, (pic) when he was about one year old his family moved to Nashville, Tennessee which is where he grew up. The family attended church at the Tusculum Church of Christ in the southern part of Davidson County and Ron attended the local public schools until he graduated from John Overton High School in 1972. After high school, he attended David Lipscomb College, also located in Nashville, where he graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech.
After leaving Lipscomb, Ron worked as a manager trainee at Castner-Knott's, a local retail department store, sold life insurance for a few years and later worked in a variety of positions with Robert Orr/Sysco, a wholesale food distributor, where he eventually became the manager of the accounts payable department. During this time he returned to school at Nashville State Technical Institute where he graduated in 1985 with an Associate of Science degree in Business Data Processing. With his degree, he went to work for the next five years with the State of Tennessee writing computer programs. During this time Ron meet and married Cathy Dalton (1984) and they were blessed with a son, Joseph, in March of 1987. The family, at that time, worshipped at the Creive Hall Church of Christ.
Ron secured a position in Louisville, Kentucky, with the Porter Paint Company as a programmer/analyst in 1990. Moving the family to Louisville, he worked for Porter Paint for the next five years writing and maintaining programs that were used to process paint batches. Ron and Cathy's second son, Luke was born in January, 1991. While living in Louisville, Ron and Cathy were members of the Westport Road Church of Christ in the St. Matthews area of Louisville. Ron and Cathy worked together teaching the First Grade class there for several years and Ron was honored to serve as the deacon of the Education Ministry with the church for several years.
In 1995, Ron moved the family back to the Nashville area when he accepted a job with Everest Consulting as a computer consultant. They settled in the city of La Vergne which sits on the south-east boundary of Nashville. He worked with a variety of clients through Everest for nearly six years until the consulting market fell on hard times. In January, 2001 he accepted a permanent position with the client he was working with, Direct General, and continues to work there developing computer applications to meet the company's business needs.
Having moved to La Vergne, Ron and the family placed membership at the Smyrna Church of Christ. Ron and Cathy taught the Second Grade class for a few years until Cathy quit teaching in order to concentrate on building the Children's Library. Ron was later appointed to serve as a deacon, once again with the Education Minstry, a position in which he still serves.
Ronald married Rosa Catherine Dalton, daughter of James Austin Dalton and Lillian Zida Massa, on 6 Oct 1984 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. (Rosa Catherine Dalton was born on 10 Jun 1955 in Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee.)
