Buried: Salyer's Cemetery, Casey County, Kentucky 3
Another name for Mary was Falkenbery.
Mary first appears in the 1880 census where she is living in Casey County, Kentucky, in the home of her parents: James "Falkenbery" aged 22 and Nancy A. "Falkenbery" aged 24. Mary is listed as "Mary E." aged 2. The initial "E" is quite distinctive.
In 1900, Mary was living in Casey County in the home of her mother, Nancy A. Wall aged 43, who is listed as the head of the house. Mary's name is recorded as "Mary L." aged 22, single and the mother of one child, still living. The middle initial "L" is quite distinctive in this listing so it is unsure why her middle initial was "E" in 1880 but "L" in 1900. This record also gives her birth month and year as March, 1878. Four others are living in the house: Mary's son Chester, age 1, and her three younger brothers William T., Lou H. and George W.
Mary's tombstone lists her birthdate as March 29, 1876 but she is listed as being two years old in the 1880 census and 22 years old in 1900 with a listed birthdate of March, 1878. It appears that the tombstone was carved incorrectly or the wrong information was given to the carver.
