Jefferson and Evelyn migrated to northern Wisconsin shortly after their marriage in 1900 (picture). There, he was a section boss for the Soo Line railroad which ran between St. Paul and Duluth, Minnesota.

It is unclear exactly when Jefferson's name changed to Falconburg since it appears that he was born under the Falconbury surname but, on the two land grants issued to him in Burnett County, Wisconsin, the "Falconburg" spelling is clear. The first land grant, for 80 acres, was issued on March 30, 1905 and the second, for 75.71 acres, was issued on March 23, 1911.

After Jefferson and Evelyn separated, around 1924, he lived for a couple of years in St. Paul then moved on to northeastern Indiana, where he lived the rest of his life. He died in the home of Elisa West in Michigan City, Indiana, and is buried in Lerch Cemetery in Knox, Indiana.
